About Michael Perry

I’m married to Denise and we have four kids.  I am the President and CEO of SpringHill Camps www.springhillcamps.com and have been in that position since 2001.  I joined SpringHill as the director of our Michigan overnight camp in 1998.  Prior to SpringHill my work experience included being a partner in some small businesses and spending 10 years in corporate life working for Steelcase, Inc in Grand Rapids, MI where I worked in Human Resources management, Quality Assurance management and World Class manufacturing planning.

In addition to my vocational experience I’ve been involved in Young Life as a volunteer leader for 7 years, a local area committee for another 7 years, I have served on a Christian school board as well as coached at both the middle and high school level basketball and baseball.

I’m a 1984 graduate of Central Michigan University with a business degree majoring in Personnel Management and a 2012 graduate of Grand Rapids Theological Seminary through Cornerstone University with a MA in Ministry Leadership.

I love to be with my family and kids, being out doors including fishing, hiking and running.  I also enjoy reading including history, biographies, leadership and management books as well as theology.  My favorite authors are CS Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, Jim Collins and Patrick Lencioni. My favorite historical characters are Winston Churchill and Abraham Lincoln.

All of  these parts of my life have led me to love learning, teaching, coaching and helping others become better leaders, influencers and followers of Christ.  In particular I have a desire for helping leaders of non-profit and ministries lead and grow the impact of their organizations.

    Michael,

This weekend my wife will be driving from south of Indianapolis where we live to Chesterton, our home town, where my daughter Lydia will be attending day camp at Liberty Bible Church. I am incredibly proud that she will be the Third Generation of Trowbridge’s to attend Springhill Camps.

I attended Springhill from the age of 10 up untill I joined the summer staff. (I remember meeting you in 98 and recall a conversation we had). I saw that summer staff training has started and wanted to pass along a note of encouragement to you and your staff. I am the man I am today because my time at Springhill, both as a camper and as a summer staffer. Please encourage your staff that they will make LASTING impressions. And the immense influence they have on lives may not bear fruit for years – but it will beat fruit.

Thank you for all you do. I am proud to send my daughter to Springhill Camp and I look forward to hearing her stories about the week.

    God bless,
Sincerely, Eli Trowbridge (summer staff SH 97,98, IP ’00, ’01).

Hi Michael: I know we are in the middle of summer and things are crazy BUT I am looking for some help with a program activity that I think your youngest campers have done at Springhill. Is there someone at Red Bush (or elsewhere) I could call? — Tink Rabey-Hall

P.S. Thank you so much for any help you can give :)!

You can call Carey Engren, our Camp Director. His number is 812-521-4452. He’ll be able to help you out. Hope your summer is going well.

      God Bless,
      Michael
